This is one of the last sunrise photos for the year 2010. As I write this, the sky is beginning to glow pink and my fingers are itching to grab my camera and take just one more!
Well, here it is...this morning's view. I know it looks the same, but every sky has a certain glow, a varied reflection. I don't seem to tire of the view of the lake each morning. There is a peacefulness about it.
Been thinking of the year past. It's been a long year for us. Began quietly, but soon we were devastated by the loss of Brian's sister Nancy and 6 weeks later his brother Bob passed away. Seems as if we have been on a plane more often than we would like.
We traveled to Ohio, then to the Cape. We went back to Cape Cod this summer and then on up to Maine for a few days. We have managed to spend a little time here at the lake which was a good break. This is our happy place. A place of solace. We put a lot of energy in maintaining it, mowing, keeping the leaves and blow down sticks picked up and burned. We even managed to have the rip rap or maybe rip wrap replaced along the shore line so we don't have to watch the shoreline wash away every time a wake boat churns through the cove. Here it is with the snow on it.
The weather here in North Carolina has been quite bizzare. As I look back through my pictures, I see a lot of snow last winter. Then we had the hottest summer ever. It began early and lasted right up until December. Then the freezer door was slammed! We were plummeted into a very cold month, with only two days with the temps above 50. We have already had a snow day, just before Christmas break and now this major snowfall on Christmas Day.
The house was warm and cozy. We went for a walk and this is the view out Lucille's Lane. Overall is was a nice distraction and made for the first white Christmas since 1946...probably the only one we will see here in our life times
